The Group's first production center was established in Arco (Trento, Italy), where the polymerization and the manufacturing process of Nylon 6 are based.
1986
Aquaspace and Gardafilo Spa, which produce space-dyed and refined polyester fibers, were founded in Rovereto, also in the province of Trento.
1988
Aquafil Engineering, which has the task of producing an selling know-how and equipment for the production of Nylon 6 polymers, 6.6, polyester fibers and filters, was established in Berlin.
1993
In this year, Aquafil Spa acquired the companies Special Polymers, based in Ceriano Laghetto (Monza, Italy) and specialized in the EP sector, and Tessil4, located in Cares (Trento, Italy) and operating in the reprocessing of fibers for BCF.
1995
The Aquafil Group started its internationalization process with the acquisition of Julon, an important production site based in Ljubljana (Slovenia) specializing for both polymerization and the production of BCFs and NTFs.
1999
Aquafil USA, dedicated to the re-processing and sale of BCF fibers in the US market, was founded in Cartersville (Georgia – United States). This marked the second stage of internationalization.
2007
Aquafil Asia Pacific (Rayong, Thailand) was founded in order to re-process and sell fibers in the Asia-Pacific market.
2008
A new business unit — Energy & Recycling — was established to deal with recycling, energy and sustainability issues. In the same year, the Borgolon plant at Varallo Pombia (Novara, Italy) was also acquired.
2009
The fund Hutton & Collins entered the company's capital with an investment of €45 million.
2010
Aquafil Jiaxing Sythetic Fiber and Polymers (Jaxing) was established in China in order to produce syntetic BCF fibers and engineering plastics. This new project has given the Aquafil Group a stronger presence in the important Chinese market.
2011
Inauguration of the plant dedicated to the production of the recycled raw material Econyl, at the Julon plant in Ljubljana.
2012
Creation of XLAnce Fibra Italia, company created by Aquafil and Carvico to acquire the brand, the patents and the production structures of XLA, elastomeric fiber produced by Dow Chemical.
