The goals achieved
Over the past four years we have taken important, concrete steps towards reaching our goals. To reduce our environmental footprint, we have intervened in three main areas: energy & emissions, water, and waste.
-
ENERGY & EMISSIONS
Between 2007 and 2011, the total amount of electricity taken from the public mains rise by 1%
The amount of electricity generated from renewable sources amounted to 29% of the total electricity purchased
The amount of steam purchased externally fell by 10% between 2007 and 2011
The overall supply of natural gas between 2007 and 2011 has been reduced by 12%
Total emissions of CO2 (Kg/ton) into the atmosphere have fallen by 29% between 2007 and 2011.

-
WATER
The total amount of water consumed between 2007–2011 has fallen by 15%

The most important reduction was the one recorded in the amount of well-drawn water, which has fallen by 17%
The actions taken to increase the amount of water recycle in production processes resulted in a reduction of 14% of waste water between 2007 and 2011.
-
WASTE
Between 2007 and 2011, the amount of recycled non-hazardous waste (paper, plastic, wood and miscellaneous) increased by 21%, thanks to the enhanced waste separation and recycling capability.
The amount of non-recycled non-hazardous waste has fallen by 42%

Even the amount of recycled hazardous waste has risen by 31%
The production of hazardous sludge resulting from water processing has fallen by 48%.
