Aquafil and Giulio Bonazzi are front and center at the first edition of One Ocean Forum.
MILAN CAPITAL OF SUSTAINABILITY OF THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT.
After being featured at the first edition of the “Green Carpet Fashion Awards”, Aquafil and Giulio Bonazzi have been at the center of another event in Italy on sustainability.
After a few days of the success of Piazza della Scala and the first Italian sustainable fashion awards, Aquafil participated in the First Edition of the One Ocean Forum, an important international conference on the protection of the marine environment.
The event was organized by the prestigious Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and held October 3-4, 2017 at the Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan. “The goal of the first One Ocean Forum is to open an international dialogue on ocean sustainability by creating a network of ‘intelligence’, identifying best practices and raising awareness of marine ecosystem issues. ” This spirit at the Forum is well connected to the strategy associated with circularity and sustainability followed by Aquafil. Giulio Bonazzi has been one of the prominent speakers on the themes of “Sustainability and Growth”, along with other representatives of companies like Aquafil that have developed “Sustainable Alternatives to Conservation of the Marine Environment”.
Giulio Bonazzi presented the ECONYL® Regeneration System , the world’s most efficient industrial system for the production of nylon 6 from regenerated waste materials, including dangerous materials from the oceans and marine life such as abandoned fishing nets.
In his presentation, Mr. Bonazzi introduced a new carpet recycling project for Aquafil. Thanks to this project, Aquafil will again become a leader in a difficult sector, with the concrete target of regenerating nylon from the billions of pounds of carpets that are thrown away in landfills in the US each year. One plant, Aquafil Carpet Recycling # 1 will be opened in 2018 in Arizona.
