Aquafil and its ECONYL® nylon protagonists of the Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022
Milan, 25th September 2022 – Aquafil colors with sustainability the Sustainable Fashion Awards. ECONYL® yarn was once again chosen as an ingredient in the carpet created by Sit-in and installed in Piazza della Scala at the event organized by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (the National Chamber of Italian Fashion) at Milan Fashion Week.
In collaboration with the Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI) of the United Nations and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Trade Agency and Milan City Council, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana organized the ceremony for the Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022 at the La Scala Theatre in Milan. The event featured and rewarded virtuous figures and companies that have stood out in the world of Italian and international fashion for their commitment to sustainability for vision, innovation, commitment to craftsmanship, recognition of differences, circular economy, human rights and environmental justice.
Piazza Scala was set up for the occasion following the leitmotif of Maestro Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Third Paradise, chosen as the symbol of the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards. The square incorporates Pistoletto’s work in both shapes and colors, from the magnificent carpet that recalls circularity.
The 1300 square meters of carpet created by Sit-in were made with ECONYL® nylon, which can be regenerated, recreated and remodeled indefinitely.

Among the celebrities and major brands of Italian and international fashion, Bianca Balti also paraded on the sustainable carpet, wearing a wonderful outfit created by Tod’s with ECONYL® nylon. The inspiration of the Creative Director Walter Chiapponi made the material created by Aquafil a catwalk cape, confirming ECONYL® as a brand capable of combining innovation, creativity and sustainability.
