Aquafil and Tarkett

Tarkett is a carpet tiles manufacturer that has sourced ECONYL® yarn from Aquafil for more than a decade. To help close the loop on Tarkett’s carpet manufacturing, Aquafil recycles the carpet tiles in Europe.

In 2019, Tarkett developed a breakthrough technology at its Waalwijk recycling center that separates the two principal components of carpet tiles: the backing and the yarn – maintaining over 95% its purity.

Because of this close collaboration, Tarkett carpet tiles are given a new life at the end of its life. The backings are reused to make new backings and the yarn is regenerated into ECONYL® yarn.
