Aquafil is again a network member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation Network

Aquafil joined again the Ellen MacArthur Foundation Network. As a network member of the world’s leading circular economy network, we will work with the Foundation and other members to share ideas and drive the global transition to a more circular economy.

The Foundation is a collaborative network of businesses, innovators, cities and governments, universities and thought leaders who work together to accelerate the adoption of circular economy practices and processes that maximize the use of resources. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation is an organization that leads in transitioning to a circular economy model built on three principles: design out waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use and natural systems.

“Aquafil has committed itself to circular economy and is invested in making it a reality across key industries across the globe. We produce ECONYL® nylon from waste materials such as fishing nets (ghost nets from the ocean and nets from fish farming) and used carpets because we know that we need to find innovative ways to reduce and reuse waste that is filling our oceans and landfills. It is our hope that through this network we are able to accelerate the transition to a circular economy with transparency and firm commitment,” said chairman and chief executive officer, Giulio Bonazzi.

For more than 10 years Aquafil has placed the circular economy as a core value of the company’s business strategy in order to save resources, give new life to otherwise lost materials, and increase efficiency along the value chain. Aquafil’s research aims to improve sustainability performance in every aspect of the supply chain. A key example of this is the ECONYL® regeneration process, which enables us to regenerate materials at their end of life. Through ambitious goals, step by step Aquafil is positioning the Group as a sustainability leader, both nationally and internationally.

“We’re delighted to have Aquafil join the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Network. Aquafil is already designing, developing, and scaling circular business models and products. As part of this Network, Aquafil will work with other organisations to share ideas and drive the global transition to a circular economy,” said Joe Murphy – Network Lead.
