Aquafil Recognized for Its Commitment to the Circular Economy
Aquafil has been recognized among Italy’s leading companies in the field of circular economy at the Premio Sviluppo Sostenibile 2025, promoted by the Fondazione per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile and Italian Exhibition Group, under the Patronage of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security.
Now in its 15th edition, the award highlights companies and organizations that demonstrate outstanding environmental performance, innovation, and tangible results in advancing the transition towards circular business models.
“The award,” recalled Edo Ronchi, President of the Fondazione per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile, “aims to promote projects under development or already implemented that ensure strong environmental results, have an innovative content, generate economic benefits, and show good potential for replication.”
Aquafil was selected among the leading projects in the Circular Economy category, recognizing its long-standing commitment in this area. Among its most recent achievements, in early 2025 the company inaugurated the first demonstration plant in Slovenia for the chemical separation of elastic fiber from nylon. This innovative technology opens up new opportunities for the textile fiber industry. This milestone represents a significant evolution of Aquafil’s long-established chemical regeneration process and an important step toward extending the technology to composite materials that could not previously be processed. This advancement aims to reduce reliance on virgin resources and support the recovery of nylon.
The award ceremony took place on November 5, 2025, during Ecomondo in Rimini, one of Europe’s leading events dedicated to circular economy and environmental innovation.

On this occasion, Aquafil also contributed to the dialogue on the future of circular textiles by participating in 2 forward-thinking panels:
- “Textile EPR: Opportunities Beyond Compliance” hosted by Rematrix, on Wednesday, November 5th, with the participation of Cristina Stefani, BCF Marketing of Circularity Projects at Aquafil Group.
- “Textiles and Clothing – Weaving Change: The Regulations Transforming the Textile Industry” on Friday, November 7th, with the participation of Tiziano Battistini, Group Coordination of Innovation and Research Projects at Aquafil S.p. A.
Both panels took place at the Textile District – Workshop Area, Hall B3.
