AquafilSLO celebrates its 50° anniversary
A celebration was held on October 13th at the company site AquafilSLO in Ljubiana.
More than 300 executives, state officials, business partners and a group of retired employees from the first years of Julon attended the event. The keynote speaker was the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Borut Pahor. He congratulated all the employees, executives and the owners for 50 years of development and the successful story of “a foreign takeover” in Slovenia. He also stressed that he believes in the business philosophy of sustainable development.
Also among the guests were the Italian Ambassador to Slovenia, Mr. Paolo Trichilo, and the Slovene Ambassador to Croatia, Ms. Smiljana Knez.
The hosts, Mr. Giulio Bonazzi, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Aquafil and Mr. Edi Kraus, General Manager of AquafilSLO, shared the first years of Aquafil in Slovenia and its development in the past 21 years as well as plans for the future. However, they also dedicated special attention to the beginnings of the factory Julon in Ljubljana 50 years ago. They awarded a group of former employees of Julon, who were employed at the factory’s beginnings in 1966, with a special certificate for their efforts and dedication.
Since Aquafil’s development is based on the responsibility for future generations, the Slovenian facility decided for a special initiative aimed at helping children from the local public kindergarten. With Aquafil’s donation, the kindergarten will purchase two modern swings for its children.
For the important anniversary, a journal These aren’t just any threads had been published about the company’s key past moments. While Mr. Kraus shared his experience of the privatisation process and Mr. Bonazzi explained its motives for the acquisition, development and future plans. A part is dedicated also to personal portraits of employees who have been with the Slovene company on different positions for several years.
After the formal celebration on the 14th and 15th of October, the Ljubljana’s and Celje’s facilities opened their doors to the employees and their families to show them what is happening behind the gray walls of the factories where their family members work.
The guided tour in Ljubljana’s facility started with a short introduction of the raw material and its transformation to polymer and to yarn (with the help of samples). The actual visit of the factory covered the spinning area, textile laboratory, automatic packaging area and BCF reprocessing areas of twisting and heat setting.
Have a look at the pictures, watch the video and listen the stories of the workers who contribute to the present and who have contributed to the past success of the company.
Best wishes to AquafilSLO!
