Congratulations to Ljubljana!
The capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, has won the European Green Capital Award for 2016.
The announcement was made by EU Environment Commissioner, Janez Potočnik, at the award ceremony hosted by the current European Green Capital, Copenhagen.
Ljubljana received recognition for raising environmental awareness among its citizens, for its sustainability strategy ‘Vision 2025’, its implementation of a range of urban green measures over the past decade and its impressive transportation network.The European Green Capital Award is an annual event that promotes and rewards the efforts of cities that are committed to improving the urban environment.
We are very happy with this decision, Slovenia and its capital Ljubljana is a beautiful place and also very committed to sustainability. We have a close connection with this city!
