Textile Exchange’s 2017 Textile Sustainability Conference was held near Washington, D.C. during the week of October 9-13 and was the largest conference organized to date, with over 500 people participating from 37 countries and 328 different companies.
Textile Exchange is a global non-profit that works closely with its members to drive industry transformation in preferred fibers, integrity and responsible supply networks.
Textile Exchange is focused on minimizing the harmful impacts of the global textile industry and maximizing its positive effects.
This year Aquafil was present in Washington at the 2017 Textile Sustainability Conference and CEO Giulio Bonazzi spoke about the unique regeneration system that allows the production of ECONYL® fiber, a yarn that really makes the “difference” today in the global textile industry. The official website for the 2017 Textile Sustainability Conference states, “As an entrepreneur, Mr. Bonazzi is not afraid to take risks to see his company evolve and grow. Under his fierce dedication and leadership vision, Aquafil has become an important sustainability leader and a key driver within the synthetic textile industry, with 15 plants in eight countries across three continents. In 2011, Mr. Bonazzi was honored with the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award in the Industrial Products category for his entrepreneurial excellence and leadership ability in expanding Aquafil SpA globally.”
The conference focus was on catalyzing the UN Sustainable Development Goals for the textile sector. Aquafil’s CEO spoke about the topic “Material Matters”.
