GIULIO BONAZZI WELCOMES THE REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR OF GEORGIA, NATHAN DEAL, TO AQUAFIL HEADQUARTER.
OCTOBER 19, 2017. Aquafil was honored to receive the visit of John Nathan Deal, Republican Governor of Georgia, US. Aquafil has two plants near Atlanta, in the city of Cartersville, Georgia. The Governor visited Aquafil’s headquarters in Arco, Italy, and Chairman and CEO Giulio Bonazzi presented the Carpet Recycling project which starts with Aquafil Carpet Recycling #1 in Phoenix, Arizona, a $ 10 million investment for 2018.
“Aquafil chose Phoenix, Arizona, to open the first collection and recycling facility for carpets, and the intention is to open many others,” – Bonazzi explains – “particularly in the US where carpet is popular and every year almost 2 billion pounds of carpet are deposited in landfills.”
The new facility is expected to recycle 35 million pounds of carpet that would otherwise end up in landfills. That number is equivalent to the weight of more than 6000 whales! The recycled carpet is a precious asset to Aquafil’s ECONYL® Regeneration System.
After Governor Deal’s visit to Arco with his delegation, commented: “A very interesting tour, as it was interesting to start a discussion with Mr. Bonazzi on topics such as the possibility of recycling materials, because the need to adopt environmentally sound policies is paramount and the spirit is about recycling everything we use. “The governor noted that Aquafil is a successful industry in Georgia and added, “I hope you continue to grow; it is certainly welcome.”
