The carpet recycling stream

“When I see trash, I see treasure,” says Giulio Bonazzi, CEO & Chairman of Aquafil Group.

We constantly look for new Nylon 6 waste sources. In 2018, we opened the first industrial recycling plant in the United States to reclaim and recycle old carpets otherwise destined for landfills.

With our state-of-the-art equipment and proprietary technology, the Aquafil Carpet Recycling plant processes more than 36 million pounds of carpets per year. The plants separate and recover the different components of the carpet for recycling. The recovered Nylon 6 is destined to become new ECONYL® yarn, while the rest of the components are reused in different industrial sectors, such as injection molding.
