The ECONYL® Regeneration System
After years of research and significant investment into development, Aquafil launched its flagship project, the ECONYL® regeneration system.
In 2011, the Group completed the transformation of Nylon 6 waste into regenerated ECONYL® nylon, maintaining the same quality level and performance as standard nylon.
ECONYL® regenerated nylon is an ingredient that empowers brands to create new products in a responsible way and close the loop on design. ECONYL® yarn is not only a solution to waste, it also significantly reduces the global warming impact of nylon.
For every 10,000 tonnes of ECONYL® raw material, we are able to save 70,000 barrels of crude oil.

The project never stops.
In July 2021, the Group launched the ECONYL® e-shop providing conscious shoppers the ability to shop products made from ECONYL® nylon in one place for the first time. The e-shop champions a range of global brands and each product is categorized according to values such as Vegan, Zero Waste, Craftsmanship, Eco Design, Ethical Labour, Size-Inclusive and Local Production, amongst others.
The platform also hosts a variety of content to educate and strengthen knowledge about sustainability and circularity for both brands and consumers.
