The world’s first circular aquaculture net in collaboration with Philosofish and Diopas
Philosofish, a Greek company operating in the aquaculture industry, has set a new standard in the aquaculture industry by becoming the first company worldwide to utilize recycled nets for fish farming.
Thanks to Aquafil’s long-term experience in the production of ECONYL® recycled nylon, and Diopas, the company that produces nets from recycled material, this new collaboration towards a common initiative was born. It underlines everyone’s commitment towards greater environmental protection.
“This is not just a product; it’s a testament to the power of collaboration across the entire supply chain, turning the dream of a more circular fishing industry into a tangible reality. With us, circularity is not a mere vision, but a lived reality.” – Giulio Bonazzi.
The new recycled nets, which use revolutionary technology, have already been installed at the Philosofish Ag. Serafeim’s structures and they will undergo a thorough assessment after remaining at sea. Specialized laboratories will evaluate the networks for any signs of damage, ensuring their durability and performance in real-world conditions.
A collaboration that establishes a new and positive change in the aquaculture sector, moving towards sustainable practices and ensuring consumers a high-quality product.
