Cartersville: “shearing and shredding” installation

The shearing and shredding machines at Aquafil USA’s Cartersville extrusion plant are up and running. Aquafil USA installed the machines to support parent company Aquafil Group’s commitment to global sustainability.
The shearing and shredding machines will be used to prepare carpet fluff for the company’s ECONYL® Regeneration System. The system regenerates waste into new material used for the creation of Nylon 6 fibers. With the installation of this equipment, Aquafil USA will be capable of shearing over 907 tons of carpet fluff every year to feed the Slovenian-based regeneration system.
“We’re very excited to be contributing to the Group’s global sustainability efforts,” said Franco Rossi, president of Aquafil USA. “It’s an opportunity to increase awareness in the U.S. of our companywide effort to minimalize the depletion of the world’s natural resources.”
From carpet tiles to rugs and swimwear to socks, ECONYL® regenerated fibers are used in the creation of a variety of quality products that enrich our daily lives. ECONYL® yarn comes with a guarantee of 50% post-consumer waste.
