Giulio Bonazzi is Named One of the 2022 Meaningful Business 100 Leaders

Aquafil chairman and CEO, Giulio Bonazzi, has been recognized for his relentless pursuit of circularity as one of the 2022 Meaningful Business 100 leaders. This leading award recognizes and supports outstanding business leaders combining profit and purpose to help achieve the UN Global Goals.

Under Bonazzi’s leadership, Aquafil has made circular economy innovation and environment, social and governance standards the core of our company values. We have established a brand manifesto that aligns our strategy to the five sustainability principles of our ECO PLEDGE®: rethinking products in a circular perspective, protecting the environment, sharing responsibilities through the value chains, caring for the well-being of individuals and supporting the local communities.

Aquafil looks to the UN Sustainable Development Goals as our guidepost, contributing primarily to Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure as well as Responsible Consumption and Production. The Group tracks our progress toward these goals through our annual ESG report. Over the last five years, Aquafil has reduced Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 64% and water consumption by 25% while transitioning to 100% renewable energy sources. One of our 2025 targets is to strengthen new sustainable value chains by collecting 35,000 tons of post-consumer waste to create new recycled materials.

This year, in its fourth edition, the Meaningful Business 100 (MB100) award received over 750 applications from 80+ countries. Nominees were judged by a panel of 24 experts who scored across five key areas: durability, impact, innovation, leadership and scope. The 2022 MB100 recipients are social entrepreneurs, sustainability leaders and impact investors across 34 countries, including leaders from Amazon, Accenture and Procter & Gamble – all dedicated to solving the world’s most pressing issues.

“It’s an honor to be recognized among these incredibly innovative change-makers across the world as one of the Meaningful Business 100,” said Bonazzi. “Achieving a more sustainable planet and a circular economy is not an easy feat, especially when tied to business. It requires a full commitment to the cause, dedication to learning and growing as well as courage to take a stand. I am proud to see the mission of circularity we work to advance every day at Aquafil be recognized and celebrated in this way.”
