Rolling out the ‘green carpet’ to promote recycling

Did you know the global carpet recycling sector was worth over EUR 10.7 billion last year? If carpet recycling wasn’t “hot” in the past, it certainly seems that way now.

It doesn’t hurt that recyclers and producers are collaborating with big fashion brands and event organisers to put sustainability on the map. One pioneer in this field is the Italian firm Aquafil, which processes around 130 000 tons of material every year.

The company recently created the ‘centrepiece’ of the third annual Green Carpet Fashion Awards in Milan. The couture event featured a floral carpet made with ECONYL regenerated nylon.
