Aquafil was honoured to welcome the U.S. Ambassador to Italy, Lewis M. Eisenberg, at its plant in Arco – Trento
Today, Friday the 22nd of March, the United States Ambassador to Italy, Lewis M. Eisenberg, and his team were welcomed by Giulio Bonazzi, President and CEO of Aquafil, at the Italian plant located in Arco – Trento.
Interested in the pioneering approach that the Italian Company has toward the circular economy, the Ambassador was pleased to meet Mr. Giulio Bonazzi and Aquafil Top Management for a presentation of the Group and a discussion on the Company future expansion in the USA.
This year, Aquafil will open its second Carpet Recycling Facility in the USA, the first one was inaugurated in 2018.
The new company business model is a solution to the 3.5 billion pounds of carpets that each year are discarded in the States.
Aquafil’s new facilities turn old carpets, otherwise destined for landfills, back into their three main components and allocate them to three different streams.
The polypropylene goes into the injection molding industry, the filler goes into the road construction or concrete stream, while nylon 6 is sent to Slovenia to feed the ECONYL® regeneration process to become brand new nylon yarn.
Mr. Lewis M. Eisenberg did appreciate Aquafil’s commitment toward sustainability and considered its approach a significant example it’s worth to mention when talking about Circular Economy.
